HISTORY: In April 2017, Culture Toronto held it's first Studio Ghibli Double Feature because we love anime, and Hayao Miyazaki does some of the best anime movies ever. Since the date was April 1st, April Fool’s Day, we call these events Foolish for Ghibli! As we branch out using other anime, we'll never forget the standard we started with - now these are Foolish for Ghibli PLUS events!

This FFG+ event occurring on February 16th, during Valentine’s Day weekend, has a lot of magic in store. We’re showing great works by both Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki and the acclaimed Mamoru Hosoda - Spirited Away and Wolf Children. Both of these movies are utterly magical, with love and important decisions between very different worlds to make for main characters - you’ll be wondering if you would make similar decisions yourself. It is going to be an utter joy to watch these movies with great stories with equally compelling animation together on the big screen! Join us!

This isn’t our first Miyazaki and Hosoda mashup but it is one of our grandest.

DISCLAIMER: tissues will not be provided

Special Guest and Performers:

Shihori Nakane.

Shihori is a music composer and lyric writer who has sold over 100,000 CDs in Japan and become one of the most prominent young music creators in Japan - her work has been in movies, anime, games and more. She has written songs for some famous Japanese artists like Momoiro Clover Z (ももいろクローバーZ) and has done collabs with the famous composer of One Piece Kohei Tanaka. We were particularly excited to see that she's done work on music from Fairy Tail and Macross too! And most importantly, she was excited about our little event here in Toronto and will be coming on Feb 16th - this is her first time in Canada so lets make her feel at home!
