HISTORY: In April 2017, Culture Toronto held it's first Studio Ghibli Double Feature because we love anime, and Hayao Miyazaki does some of the best anime movies ever. Since the date was April 1st, we call these events Foolish for Ghibli! As we branch out using other anime, we'll never forget the standard we started with - now these are Foolish for Ghibli PLUS events!

This being our first theatre event in October, this time we're Ghoulish For Ghibli! This Ghoulish For Ghibli PLUS Double Feature will be showcasing the beautiful classic Howl's Moving Castle and the acclaimed stop-motion film Kubo and The Two Strings by Laika Studios! This event is more than just a screening, it's a celebration. Are you in?

While all Ghibli movies are made with the utmost craftsmanship, Kubo and The Two Strings was no easy task! Here's a look at the making of this epic film where stunning models were moved millimetres to centimetres at a time to give us the animation we'll be enjoying October 20th.

Fox Theatre in The Beaches,  2236 Queen St E, Toronto, ON, M4E 1G2

Saturday October 20th, 9:30-4:30pm

P.S. Great cafes are within steps and the beach is literally a 5 minute walk away!

Please book BELOW

  • Tickets will be available at the door!

Q: When will I receive my tickets?

A: We don't actually send out physical tickets. When you buy your tickets, we put your name on a guest list while you are sent a digital confirmation of your purchase.

Q: I won a BFF pass and don't know how to redeem it!

A: If you legitimately won a BFF, we should have your email. Just buy a regular priced ticket and bring your guest! If you want to be extra safe, also provide your guest's name and email. You may have to provide proof of winning your BFF pass so please have some (i.e. screenshot, history, etc.)

Q: Do I have to cosplay?

A: Of course you don't! Come any way you want. There is a cosplay contest though that we will all watch and enjoy, and the prizes are $$$.

Q: Is this a family friendly event?

A: The films are totally appropriate for kids.

Q: Are the movies subtitled or dubbed?

A: When you come to our anime events, you start to get polls about what we should watch next and whether they should be dubbed or subbed. We cater to our loyal followers. If you are asked to, please vote!

Q: Is there a refund policy?

A: We have a no refund policy but if you explain your situation, we can usually figure something out.

We have had some great times! Lets have more :)
